No death: As you have obviously learned, you did not die. Grapefruit sometimes interferes with the metabolism of various medications but the combination should not be fatal.

Minor: Grapefruit juice inhibits the liver enzymes that break down certain medicines, resulting in a small increase in the medicine's effect.  This definitely occurs with valium; there is some uncertainly whether it affects xanax (alprazolam) as much, or at all.  It takes a lot of grapefruit juice (at least a pint, probably more) to have this effect.  Tell your doc if you drink lots of grapefruit juice regularly.

rxd topamax, xanax, abilify (aripiprazole). topa induces 3a4. i love white grapefruit juice, which inhibits 3a4. is this an unsafe combo esp with the topamax..?

Confusing: Topomax is a weak inducer of cyp 3a4, and maybe c19.  Your biggest issue here is the grapefruit juice, which inhibits 3a4 quite significantly.  This could increase the effects of both xanax and abilify (aripiprazole).  Either you need to stop the grapefruit juice or drink it at a constant level.  Please inform your prescribing psychiatrist about this.

Seroquel (quetiapine)?: All these meds can put weight on you. Sweets are a simple form of calories. Easy to gain weight. See your prescriber pleade.

More relaxed: One symptom of anxiety is a decrease in appetite and/or trouble swallowing.  Xanax, also known as alprazolam, reduces anxiety. It does not promote weight gain in any other way

The : The administration of contrast sometimes produces nausea and vomiting.  It is prudent to have an empty stomach, however a pill swallowed with a mouthful of water is reasonably safe.  There is no known interaction between intravenous contrast and xanax (alprazolam).  You should be fine to pre-medicate, however a ct exam is very easy and much less anxiety/claustrophobia invoking than an mri.

Yes.: Your instincts are good.  There are a number of alternatives to Xanax (alprazolam) and other benzodiazepines.  Buspirone is one. IN the larger picture, they are generally more effective than benzodiazepines.

Acute Anxiety: I am so sorry to hear this.This is one of the most traumatic events in life as you are finding out.  I know from similar experience.  You need someone to talk to, a close friend a coworker, preferable someone who has gone through this.  You need, although you don't want to, a therapist.
