Best to be under the: care of a doctor. First off allopurinol does not always lower the uric acid levels. a doctor can figure out if you overproduce or underexcrete uric acid. There are also ramifications of gout that one should be under the care of a doc.

Depends...: Based on your lab results Allopurinol dosage should be adjusted as the uric acid levels lower.  Many gout medications can be taken as a maintenance dose if it is chronic gout.   Check with your doctor who prescribed your meds to adjust the dose or even change the medication.

my uric acid levels is up from 440 to 502 umol/l
is it ok to take allopurinol? i never had attack

Yes, but why?: If you have never had gout, i would just try to change your diet to decrease your uric acid level.  Every medication can cause side effects.  If there is no reason to start a medication, try to adjust lifestyle to improve your health and avoid starting medications.

Metabolic problem: Elevated uric acid levels besides  gout attacks ,  possibly may also lead severe systemic problems , as some times my deposit in the eyes  retinal vessels , heart muscle  blood  vessels of other critical areas , to prevent these comp,actions your doctor wants the levels down, always get hydrated drink plenty of fluids

Sure: This has  been used in low doses with some success in preventing acute attacks. If you're running a high uric acid level, the Colchicine is doing nothing whatever to protect your kidneys. Take this into account. By the way -- have you been offered probenecid?

No med: As a pharmacist and physician, I am not in favor of using meds unless indicated. If Uric acid is elevated try diet control (eliminating foods that increase uric acid like rhubarb, spinach, mushrooms etc)  to help manage.

Diarrhea, Nausea: Diarrhea; nausea.

Severe:

    severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); blood in urine or painful urination; dark urine; fever, chills, or sore throat; irritation of the eyes; joint pain; loss of appetite.

Not really: Allopurinol is a life long therapy.  Stay on it. There is no natural substitute.
