It : It is very important to address the treatment of a lazy eye.  If left untreated, the visual potential of the "lazy eye" can be severely limited. Unfortunately, once the window of treatment is lost, and this is generally in childhood ( the younger the better!), then any treatment will have limited or no potential to improve vision!

Basics: Your brain makes that determination over time. In general, it uses input from both eyes for depth perception/distance. When/if one eye's image is poor, it may choose to turn off the weak image. When the poor image is improved with lenses to the point it is near that  of the stronger eye it may  retain usable vision. What is likely in your case is best determined by your eye doc.

Some basics: Lazy eye is a lay term. Some use it to describe an eye that drifts in or out, not lined up with the other eye. Some apply it to a weaker eye. If the 2 eyes do not have the same strength, or one does not line up, it gives the brain 2 images. Over time (years) the brain can decide to turn off one eye &amp; stay with the best image. Since your status is unclear it is unclear what your outcome could be.

Yes and No: There's nothing specific about your job as a coder that will make it worse. ANY job involving lots of reading and/or computer screen work has the potential to flare the condition up. Talk with your ophthalmologist about how to exercise the eye and how to work rests into your day to give your muscles a break. We use our eyes constantly as we work, so not anything specific with your current job.

Migraine: Sorry to hear that. You should see your PCP or a Neurologist who can recommend migraine specific pain meds.

Try looking for some triggers that might bring the migraine like chocolates, wine, MSG in food colors, caffeine, stress etc. so you can avoid these.

Rest in a dark quite room helps. 
Take pain meds as needed. See your doctor for possible labs / brain scan if need be.

my 3.5 yr old has had a lazy eye documented since less than a yr old, it's gotten so much worse and only have medicaid now. frisco- any good surgeons?

Maybe not necessary: Has your child been evaluated for eyeglasses?  If the child is farsighted, wearing the proper eyeglasses will often straighten the eyes without surgery. Glasses are easily adjusted as the child grows and the eyes change. Doing surgery too young may result in an eye that turns out as a teen, which is even worse than the initial problem.

Depends: The brain normally chooses a dominant eye, which is the one you use looking into a telescope. The chances of any decline in function or "lazy" eye would relate to how much difference there is between the two. This is something you should discuss with your ophthalmologist.
