Tibial Plateau : Fractures of the top of the shin bone involves a portion of the bone we call the tibial plateau.  There are two sides to the tibial plateau, the inner, or medial side --- and the outer, or lateral side.

MRI ?'s: What is described indicates a failure of tibial fracture treatment, especially with "internal derangement" . The meniscus tear may have occurred secondary to the post injury use of the injured knee joint.  Both may need surgical intervention to correct.

knee mri 8/29/22 says completely torn acl and medial tibial plateau fracture. saw doctor today who said it's not a fracture, just a bruise. should i ask for a second opinion before i start weightbaring?

: In my experience during many years of practice, when there's a descrepancy between a radiologist's interpretation and a nonradiologist's interpretation, I have learned that the radiologist is usually correct. A second opinion from either another radiologist or another orthopedic specialist is worthwhile.

Fractures painful: A fracture is very painful, even if nondisplaced.

Please contact your doctor regarding proper pain management.

Follow your doctor's rules regarding weight-bearing and other activities.

Patella: You are likely referring to the patella or knee cap.  A common fracture pattern is a transverse fracture, often times they are non displaced.

i had a stress fracture of the femoral medial condoyle with severe edema. i used a waker 10 weeks to put minimal weight and now am using a knee brace at times; sometimes a cane. walking with no aids at all feels uncomfortable. what should i do?

: You need to report back to your doctor. The fracture should have healed(under normal conditions) within that amount of time. (6 weeks). You should make sure fracture has healed and not displaced. Rehab is what is required at this time.

my medial malleolus was fractured during trekkers vs pedestrian on 5/4. i got an orif on 5/8 and got two screws.the md wants me pwb in a boot. there is no pain in the ankle, but the medial knee hurts. is it normal?

Hard to say: It could be from the injury it could be from the position during surgery, it could be from the weight of the boot.

May be of benefit: It is quite common for one to receive a brace following a fracture of that type.  Your physician can let you know if a brace is right for you.

Not usually: Tibial plateau (front of the bone at it's STRONGEST edge!  Shaped like a triangle the tibia plateau is the top "peak"... and this fracture generally heals without casting. The knee is usually  stable following such injuries. Hope this is helpful!

had knee surgery 5 months ago for tibial plateau fracture, and my lateral ligament is still weak. any recommendations?

Tough to answer: The majority of tibial plateau fractures do not involve the lateral ligamentous structures. In general, the lateral structures (fibular collateral, popliteofibular, popliteus, etc) require surgery to repair or reconstruct. I think your case is much better addressed with a specialist and careful review of the situation.
