A 67-year-old female asked:

Had a second mri because of a fall in january directly onto my knee cap. ist mri showed fracture to tibia and tibia plateau. 2nd mri now shows internal derangement , tibial plateau fracture and medial free edge meniscal tear. what does this all mean?

MRI ?'s: What is described indicates a failure of tibial fracture treatment, especially with "internal derangement" . The meniscus tear may have occurred secondary to the post injury use of the injured knee joint. Both may need surgical intervention to correct.

See orthopedist: Agree that knee has deteriorated. You need expert orthopedic surgery consultation. Treatment decisions are necessary, and surgical correction is clearly a possibility.
