i am 59 years old.  i just had a ultrasound it showed thickened uterus 11mm and fibrous (sp).  i have no bleeding no pain.  is this cancer?

Your Gynecologist ca: You should seek further help from your gynecologist. The question I have is why you had the ultrasound done in the first place? Thickening of the uterine lining can be benign but it needs to be moitored for further change in next 3 to 6 months. This can be done with a repeat ultrasound. If the thickness increases further, then an endometrial biopsy may provide the answers to the cause.

can a vaginal ultrasound see uterus and endometrial cancer?

Not technically: A transvaginal ultrasound is a great test to visualize the uterus and it can show a thickened uterine lining, which can be associated with endometrial cancer but not always as there are other causes of a thickened endometrial lining. The only way to accurately diagnose endometrial cancer is with an endometrial biopsy or a D&amp;C. An US alone cannot be used to diagnose endometrial cancer.

ultrasound showed the wall of my uterus is thick, uterus is enlarged, and fibroids. heavy/bad periods every 3 mos. lasting over a month. cancer odds?

If u have thick endo: Endometrium, it depends how thick at your age if it measures over 10 mm u need a hysteroscopy with endometrial biopsy that I do in office and then u will know whether u have normal tissue, endometrial pre- cancer called hyperplasia or less commonly endometrial cancer- hopefully not.

Follow up: It is unusual for cancer for your age ,but you should have follow up and if growing you should have biopsy.

what cancers does ca125 pick up? if transvaginal ultrasound does not pick up cancer and ca125 is normal does that mean u dont have cancer. what cancer does pap smear pick up? my uterus is 7.7x5.3x5.4. is that normal? what is myometrial heterog

CA125: CA125 is a tumor marker to screen/monitor ovarian cancer. If CA125 is normal, you may still have other types of cancers. CA125 does not screen for all cancers. CA125 can be elevated for over 10 things not related to cancer. Pap smear is a screening test for precancerous/cancerous lesions of the cervix. I would love to answer more but best to review with MD who ordered those test or Healthtap MD.

i am 31,on cycle for 18 days, usually up to 10 days max. er found a fluid filled cyst inside my uterus via ultrasound. i have had a tubal ligation and preg. test neg by blood test, should i be worried? i have hx of cervical cancer, and im worried?

: If you are sexually active, cervical inflammation or malignancy can cause extended bleeding.  See your GYN physician for an exam and repeat Pap smear, and guidance.

Look here: Look here at transvaginal us image of the uterus:  http://www.Conciergeradiologist.Com/ultrasound-images.Html.   The uterus is generally harder to visualize in its complete extent on transabdominal images, but this is a close approximation of what is seen in transabdominal ultrasound (transvaginal is the better of the two).

The same throughout: The entire uterus would look the same with out any fibroid s which would look like balls.  Also the lining would be thin without any masses.

Nothing significant: There are no significant changes to the uterus that would be visible on ultrasound.
