i have a small internal bleeding injury in my hand. some people say this could cause severe consequences, is this true? location:between the finger next to the thumb on my right hand.

Accepted Answer

If : If you merely bruised your hand, typically the body will "resorb" or take back the blood and there will be no long term consequences. If there were other issues like increased pressure from bleeding or infection related to the bleeding or if there were associated injuries etc.. That would have to be dealt with. But as you describe it "small" bleeding would not typically be a problem.

If you have any unexpected symptoms see your doctor.

Yes, you can: Get internal bleeding from any contusion.  If you have difficulty moving your fingers or have significant swelling or pain, you might even have a fracture.  Best to show it to a doctor.

Cannot re-suture: The open area of the laceration will close and heal on its' own; however, it will take several weeks.

i cut my thumb open last night with a can i rushed to the er to get their an notice the bleeding wouldnt stop and i had to get stitches i'm 6 months pregnant how long will it take to heal an what can i take for this excruciating pain?

: Chilled compresses will reduce nerve impulses that feed the pain signals to the brain. Other simple OTC pain medications are safe at that stage of pregnancy.

slammed thumb in car door. bleed underneath nail. now nail seems to be peeling....nail is now bumpy and gross. is this normal? can't get manicure.

Yes: The bleeding (hematoma) below your nail is an indication that you tore the nail bed and possibly also broke the bone beneath. Once the nail grows out ( will take many months and it will fall off leaving a new one beneath) you will hopefully have had a good idea how  it is healing. I  can't emphasize how important it is to listen to your doctors.

Direct pressure: Put pressure on the bleeding area with your other hand.  Use something absorbtive to soak up the blood.  You have both hands occupied now have someone drive you to urgent care or er to see if it needs stitches or other treatment.

Ouch!: Ice is a good start - but you should see a doctor, get an xray, and make sure you haven't broken any bones.

Go to urgent care/ER: Sounds like she may have a cut or laceration that needs to be cleaned out and repaired with stitches, especially if it continues to bleed.  She probably needs a tetanus shot if she hasn't had one in the last 5 years or so.  Recommend that she goes to the ER to be further evaluated especially if she is having any numbness.  She may need to have xray to make sure there is not anything in the wound.

is it normal to bleed hours after you've cut your thumb? i did it at 6:55 it's 11:32 and it still bleeding. not heavly but enough for me to see it threw the bandiad cut my thumb straight inward.

Can be: If the injury invoked blood vessels and is still open yes.  If it continues to bleed, have it checked to see if you need it repaired. Direct pressure for 5 or more minutes may help. With a clotting problem you would have other bleeding problems in addition.

my son cut his thumb by sticking it in a soda can last night. its a fairly deep cut, should he still be experiencing some intermittent bleeding?

Laceration: HI

The bleeding should stop by now, unless the wound is not covered and he keeps on injuring it or scratches it. Suturing  is usually done in the fresh wound. 
Please keep the area clean, you may apply topical antibiotic, apply pressure if the bleeding noted. If bleeding does not stop after 5 minutes of pressure then get him seen.
