what does it mean when tonsils have red streaks?

Tonsils with red: Red streaks on the tonsils could be several possibilities.  The first concern would be possible infection or even inflammation.  Could be a burning from acid reflux if you have heart burn.  Could also be prominent blood vessels on or near the surface of the tonsils.  Best to have this all looked at so you can get treatment, if it's needed.

Tonsil vessels: Many of the soft tissues that line the mouth and throat have visible blood vessels.  This is quite normal.  Sometimes those vessels are red or purple.  Black would not be a typical color for a vessel although depending on your light source (flashlight), a purple vessel could look black.  Without actually examining your tonsils directly, it would be difficult to say what it is.  Have an ENT dr look.

Redness: It may just be irritation but could also be caused by a viral or bacterial infection if it persists I would suggest you see a doctor

Pharyngitis: Hello, there are many possible causes of what you are seeing. A thrush, dehydration, viral or bacterial pharyngitis all are possible. I would recommend drinking adequate fluids, gargle with salt water and consider ibuprofen. If after 5 days total, if your symptoms still persist, see your doctor for further evaluation.

i have a single red dot on my tonsill. what could this be? its not tiny i mean you can see it pretty clear?

: It may be a normal variant and nothing to worry about but if concerned please see an ENT doctor for closer examination and possible biopsy if deemed necessary.

my left tonsil is swollen..not paining much. i am a regular smoker smoking 4-6 cigaretted a day.no white patches and no redness.should i be worried?

A swollen tonsil: a unilateral swollen tonsil may be indicative of a unilateral infection. if it remains swollen for at least 2 to 3 weeks more I would see your primary care physician to establish a cause. Smoking could certainly be the cause however I would expect bilateral swelling  if smoking were the cause.

drs have  said for years i have a huge tonsil. no pain, redness. 70-80% bigger than other. scared. neither pa or dentist seemed concerned. normal, why?

Tonsils: If you are still concerned about your diagnosis after meeting with a pa and your dentist, get another opinion from your md or get a referral to an ENT specialist.  Most often, similar parts of our bodies are neither symmetric or the same size, which explains the "lack of concern" that you experienced.

Red patches in: A young man is best diagnosed by a dentist, and more likley an infection than a cancer. Usually chronic inflammation can be a risk for oral cancers, and infections with hpv of throat cancers. But knowing, preventing, changing behavior is another thing.

Many possibilities: May just be trauma from crusty bread, chips, etc. May be herpes virus lesions. May be infection. Other possible conditions. Usually it is trauma. See your dentist for evaluation.

Just continue to: monitor ..if anything changes such as size or if they start to cause pain see the ENT again
