: Does not sound cardiac to me, and more likely you have a left carpal tunnel syndrome or a left C6 nerve involvement.  Followup cervical MRI and a left arm EMG will localize and substantiate severity and provide guide for further intervention.  Talk to your doctor about your heart concerns, unlikely but just to be safe.

Need examination: You should be examined by a neurologist in all likelihood and very possibly you may benefit from an EMG which is an electrical test.  Also, an imaging study such as CT or MRI may be requested to look the neck region.  Try and discover (and document) what makes the shooting pains better and what makes them worse to tell the doctor.  They will appreciate that information.

Symptom relief: Yes, gabapentin can suppress nerve pain, but this is purely symptomatic relief, without any affect upon recovery or cure.  Since your problem just began, there is an excellent chance of improvement over next 3-4 weeks.  If numbness persists, at that point an EMG test could guide further intervention.

i have shoulder blade,arm pain and numbness in my hand, pain in my ribs area around the chest and breast bone for over 12 months. mri showed no trapped nerves, concerned i have a pancoast tumour would this have shown in my cervical mri and spine mri?

Lung tumor ?: The MRI of the shoulder and upper chest should have shown a tumor at the lung apex, so if not diagnosed by the MRI, it is unlikely for your pain to be of pulmonary origin.  Get a referral from your primary care doctor for an orthopedic physician to find the cause of the pain described.

Nerve in thumb: If the skin wasn't punctured and there is no infection you can get a thumb splint from most pharmacies . It is better to check with you doctor to make sure there is no further problems.

i cut the inside of my thumb deep and has been numb above the cut since it happened.  will the nerve repair itself ?

Prob will improve: Depends on the locations of the cut.  If it was close to the tip of the finger, and wasn't severe enough to need stitches, everything should heal and the numbness should eventually get better.  If it was close to the palm, it's possible that the numbness might not go away.  It could take several months to see a difference.  A nerve regrows about the thickness of your thumbnail every day.

Thumb numbness: Not sure exactly how you hurt your wrist but you may have injured a part of your median nerve if thumb is numb on the palm side or part of the radial nerve if numb on the top side. Recovery depends on the extent of the injury...Weeks to months.

my right thumb is numb on the left side. if i move it in a certain way i get what feels like an electric shock in my thumb, is that a pinched nerve.

Could be: The symptoms you are talking about suggest a small nerve branch that is pinched on the side of your thumb.

These do not sound like much to worry about.  Give it some time.  Most often this symptom is caused by a mild injury to the nerve in the thumb that heals in 1-2 weeks.

If your symptoms last longer than it would be appropriate to have more evaluation.
