Cyst most likely: You are describing something that is similar to a "ganglion cyst".  This is an out pouching of the lining of the joint of your wrist.  These occur frequently.  Often they go away on their own.  Often they have no symptoms, but can have pain and discomfort. Usually observed but can be injected with a steroid and if complicated, they are surgically removed.  Questions?  See your pcp or hand surgeon.

Could be from a nerve entrapment, disc herniation, stenosis.

Should have a clinical exam and imaging studies of your neck.

Likely inflammation: Often osteoarthritis presents first with pain at the base of the thumb, but in someone your age, it is much more likely to be due to overuse--perhaps while doing something like your profile picture depicts. Try NSAID (ibuprofen, naproxen), heat, avoid overuse.  If not improved, see health care provider.

Get an evaluation it: Might be a nerve injury or pinching. An EMG might be of value in helping diagnose and treat this annoying problem

Nerve issue: This sounds like a nerve issue.  Either it was positional when you or sleeping, and it is likely the same nerve, median, that carpal tunnel can affect, or a nerve from your neck or shoulder coming down.  Typically this does resolve over time.  I would recommend an evaluation if it does not.

i had a very severe migraine last night that had waken me up from my sleep. the thumb area of my left hand was slightly numb. could migraines cause it?

Maybe two issues: The hand may have been flexed at wrist, and the numbness could be due to carpal tunnel compression.  Less likely is complex migraine event of this sort, so, you need to have your doctor investigate these two issues, and sort it out.

i have fingernail indentions in left hand nail beds. specifically my thumb, middle, and ring finger. i'm 31 yo with no previous med hx. any reason?

Any number of things: Changes in fingernails can be indicative of an underlying medical disorder. Ridges or bumps can be related to iron deficiency. Anemia, lupus, heart disease, and thyroid disorders can also can changes to the fingernails. Fungal infection also can cause bumps and discoloration of the nailbed. Seeing your primary care physican can rule out many of these disorders.
