Adrenaline: A panic attack involves the release of adrenaline, causing your heart to beat faster, your muscles to tighten, and your senses to sharpen.  This puts you into fight or flight mode.  Of course, what makes panic attacks abnormal is that it occurs at any time and can be debilitating.  The muscle spasms can be a result of the adrenaline release during the panic attack.

Additive sedation: Taking the two together may increase the side effects of dizziness, drowseyness and confusion. Avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery until these effects wear off. Consider non drug treatments for stress (such as cognitive behavioral therapy), which may be causing your muscle spasm and anxiety.

my doctor gave me tinzanidine for a muscle spasm in my chest and shoulder and xanax as needed for anxiety. i took 2 mg (half pill) of tinzanidine this morning but am now having a panic attack. is it ok to now take xanax since about 6 hours have passe?

: You can take it but aware the combined effects of these 2 drugs may may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. You should not drive or operate machinery when taking this combination. Take care.

can anxiety cause every muscle in your body to be tight constantly? never had this issue before anxiety. every muscle including face and fingers are tight. been to pcp and hospitals with panic attacks/symptoms. what can i do?

for problems in the Central Nervous System, at the junction of peripheral nerves &amp; muscles, in muscles themselves &amp;/or from a systemic illness.

Panic attack: Panic attacks can cause hyperventilation which blows off CO2. This in turn can lead to tetany of muscles (most often in extremities).

Anxiety shows itself: In may ways.  Once can mentally obsess over things that frighten the person or do behaviors to keep danger away, e.g., ritual behaviors, checking and re-checking.  There can be heart palpitations, shortness of breath, sweating, sleeplessness, GI symptoms, etc.  Please see doctor and then go to a mental health professional to learn ways to deal w/anxiety. i have been to the dr recently for a potential pinched nerve/ muscle issue in my left hip, groin and into the knee area. the dr had me start gabapentin + methocarbamol, both cause me anxiety and panic attacks. any natural ideas to treat?

Alternative options: Your doctor did offer accepted treatments. Gabapentin needs to start low and build up,to,therapeutic levels over weeks e.g 100-200mg daily to 600mg 3 x daily.  NSAIDS like ibuprofen are good for your pain. Curcumin 2000mg daily can help the inflammation, stop red meat and corn products (inflammatory), and get an EMG of L leg to determine if this is a spine issue, and  benefit from different Rx.
