i fainted at a club last night. had a few sips of a drink but im on amoxicillin for sore throat. i'm an svt heart patient with pacemaker.  what happen?

Syncope: Syncope (passing out) is a rare presentation for patients with svt or other narrow complex tachyarrhythmias. I don't think the antibiotic had anything to do with it. There are many causes of syncope, but given your cardiac history, it may be related to your heart. Metoprolol can cause syncope, but uncommonly. The first measure i would take would be to evaluate the functioning of your pacemaker.

have a pacemaker..im 36..its working great but have been having aching pains from my neck down my left arm?

May not be related: Depending on where your pacemaker is placed and how long ago, and whether chest or arm motion affects the symptoms, the pacemaker may or may not be related to your symptoms.  The symptoms may be musculoskeletal or related to a primary neck problem, but you should talk to your doctor and/or the implanting cardiologist and have them confirm or deny the relationship.

i had a pacemaker implant on 5 nov 2019. the incision has healed but inside around the area is very tender & swollen in parts. sometimes i experience a stinging/burning sensation. just wanted to know how long it should take to heal & if this is norma?

Healing: Unless there is associated and spreading redness, increased swelling or discharge from the area, I would give it more time for complete resolution of swelling or irritation. If you still have concerns. consult the physician who inserted the pacemaker for evaluation and advice.

Accepted Answer

Yes: You need to be hand screened -- and remember to tell them when you arrive. It will set them off -- and that will just delay you. You will be hand-screened or searched. The microwave technology does not do a good job determining what the pacemaker is, although it is getting better.

Rhythm, diaphragm?: Pacemaker inserted for rhythm problems.  Burping can be seen with cardiac causes including rhythm problems, poor blood flow (especially inferior-lower wall), diaphragm irritation, or GI causes.
Check with your doc.  Any other symptoms, like lightheadedness, nausea, sweats, palpitations, chest discomfort, check now.

Yes: Hi. Yes, that is cause for concern. Cough is nonspecific, and can represent diverse problems including pneumonia, asthma, congestive heart failure, or simply a cold. At her age, there could be any number of things wrong. It would be wise to get her to her doctor who knows her medical history and can do appropriate diagnostics. Good luck to her!

: Typically described in dual chamber pacemakers, pacemaker induced tachycardia is rare, but has been described in single chamber pacemakers, “runaway pacemaker”.

Fast and slow!: Tachy-brady means sometimes the heart goes too fast and other times too slow. We need a pacemaker to prevent the slow beats so we can more safely give medication to control the fast beats. The type of pacemaker depends on what type of rhythms are involved. Usually it's dual chamber unless someone is in atrial fibrillation all the time.

Yes: If a pacemaker lead perforated the right atrial or ventricular wall....If suspected echocardiogram should be ordered immediately.

Accepted Answer

No: Cardiac pacemakers maintain and encourage normal heart rhythms, and are used to treat abnormal heart beat patterns.  The vagus nerve is stimulated by a vagal nerve stimulator used over the left vagus, which does not have cardiac innervation, and this device helps control seizures.
