is vitamin water a good alternative to diet soda?

I would say yes: I am not sure how much of values of vitamins in the "vitamin water" but seemingly  much less chemicals than diet soda. Drinking just water and a daily vitamin will be much cheaper. Diet soda contains too many chemicals. Also, soda can contribute to anemia (binding your iron, and possibly much of calciums) and thinning bones. So, drink h20 to good health and save some pennies. gave up diet soda a year ago. i drink 2-3 liters of water daily plus 2 vitamin water zero daily with lunch one & dinner for flavor. safe choice?

I think this sounds: pretty good. Vitamin Water Zero passes a lot of nutritional tests: it is calorie free, has no artificial sweeteners (sweetened with Trulia and fructose) and no artificial dyes. You are getting 200% of the vitamin C recommended daily value (100% in each 8 oz), but close to 100% of a handful of B vitamins and a boost for a few more. Total fluid intake: about 84 to 118 oz daily..generous but ok:)

Counting : Counting calories and keeping a food journal can be two of the most effective ways to lose weight. Being accountable for what you put in your mouth by writing it down and being aware of calorie values will make you think about what you are eating. It is important to eat a good variety of foods, so as long as you count your calories, nothing necessarily has to be "off-limits". Get a kitchen scale and weigh your foods in order to know exactly how much you are eating and therefore how many calories. The healthiest diets involve whole grains, lots of fruits and vegetables, lean meats, fish and moderate dairy. Sugars and added oils/butter should be used sparingly. You need to eat at least three meals a day, though some people will advocate more frequent, smaller meals. An exercise program with a lot of cardio (brisk walking every day is the best!) is also important for muscle tone, strength, and cardiovascular health. Good luck!

Not needed: You can take it with little likelihood it will harm anything. If you take multivitamins then you should be OK. It is not going to prevent a cold as far as we know scientifically. The hydration part helps the most. I would suggest to start drinking juice to help your system.

No.Sugar.Lots of it: Vitamin water *sounds* like it's healthy but it's not. One bottle has 7 teaspoons of sugar, even more than 12 oz bottle of coca cola [though i'm not saying that you should drink coke instead]. Plain water is healthiest. Crave flavor? Add a slice of lemon, lime, orange or cucumber. Make your own iced tea [flavored green tea or herbal tea]. More diy ideas in comment section.

Yes and Not Really: The water portion of it is healthy and fine to drink. The vitamin (or other additive) portion of it is neither healthy nor unhealthy, because it can be obtained in our food or in a daily multivitamin (which covers most of the recommended vitamins); or because it is an additive that is advertised as helpful but may actually be unnecessary and unproven. It is fine to drink plain water and save $$$.

It depends: Vitamin Water is a commercial drink that adds sweeteners, flavors and small amounts of vitamins and minerals to water.There are many varieties but most have about 32 grams of sugar (as cane sugar and fructose) and NONE of those are "good for you."Sugar is one of the least healthy things we can consume.
But the "Zero" variety with no sugars (sweetened with stevia and erythritol) is relatively good.

A glass of water from the municipality could be adequate for health. Buyer beware is the dictum where it comes to consumer products.

For hydrating the body the recommendations are 6 to 8 glasses of water per day. 20%(up to 2 glasses) or more could be obtained from the food we eat. In medicine the preference is for simplicity. Drink water when you are thirsty and take your vitamins separately. Consume food when you are hungry. That way you can be 'in tune' with your bodily needs and better maintain the homeostasis(equilibrium) of the body.

I gave a reference to the kiss principle as stated in the wikipedia and also the national institute of health guidelines for re-hydrating the body on a daily basis for the losses it incurs through sweating etc., .

Reasonable choice: Vitamin water zero XXX is sweetened with erythritol and stevia, which are relatively safe non-caloric sweeteners, and also has vitamin C, potassium and some B vitamins. I think the best drinks are pure water and organic teas but if you are craving an occasional sweet drink this is a reasonably healthy choice.
