D3: Please get your D3 tested by your doctor and then you will know the right amount to take daily.  Experts suggest your level be between 50 &amp; 80 for optimal benefit.  You can OD on D3 and have some side effects like fatigue &amp; GI symptoms.  Peace and good health.

5-10,000 iu/day: There are many proven benefits of Vitamin D3. While the RDA is only 600-800 iu/day, many experts recommend 5-10,000 iu/day to achieve optimal serum levels of 50-100. The only hazard is from taking too much, but one has to take at least 40.000 iu/day for months to get toxic.  It's wise to take some Vit K2 with it.

Vitamin D3: Vitamin d3 is usually prescribed along with calcium supplements. You may be having muscular pain due to calcium deficiency, as vitamin d3 alone will cause calcium absorption from bones. Talk to your doctor and discuss the treatment options.

I hesitate to draw cause-and-effect conclusions from studies based only on statistics without an obvious mechanism.

: Vitamin C &amp; D are often added or already present in food in our regular diet (i.e. cereal, milk, orange juice). The Vitamin D recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for children 4-8 years old is 600 IU/day (15µg). The upper limit is 3000 IU/day. For Vitamin C the RDA is 25 mg/day, the upper limit is 650 mg/day.

Vitamin D Dose: Vitamin D3 is often too low in patients these days.   There are many reasons for this, including less time in the sun and more sunscreen.  Also, vitamin D is used in the operation of approximately 350 genes, including many involved with detoxification.  We have many more chemicals that need detoxifying over the past 20 years or so.

It varies how much is needed.  4, 000 i.u. is usually safe.  Test.
