pinching in posterior lower leg when walking, sometimes sitting. there is a vein sticking out but the pinching is not in same area. ultrasound normal?

Evaluate Achilles: Need to look at structures in the lower leg. The Achilles tendon is  big player here. This can be vascular, neurological and muscular issues that need to be evaluated. The  sticking out of the vein may be a clue - need to know  why it is sticking out.

my dad has spinal stenosis, angioplasty work before, and his veins are now sticking out of his legs. should i be worried?

Accepted Answer

It depends: You present 3 separate diagnoses.  Spinal stenos is narrowing of the spinal canal. If pain in back and/or legs is severe it needs attention of a spinal doctor.  I assume the angioplasty was of a coronary artery.  If he has chest pain, it is something to worry about.  Distended leg veins are usually varicose veins and are nothing to worry about.   If  he has leg pain, try elastic stockings.

i notice that i have alot of blue veins sticking out of my ankles, feet, legs they do not hurt. should i be worried?is it because im more active? 18yd

Varicose veins: Can present as you describe,and can be asymptomatic. If it hurts, swells or looks inflammed, see a doctor.

two protruding dots on anterior lower leg. they stick out more when flexing leg. is this common of varicose veins, aneurism, or myofascial hernia?

All possible: All of what you mentioned is possible, along with skin lesions, or more likely cysts under the skin. Best to have them examined by our primary care provider at their next available visit. Hope this helps!

after i workout i have a large vein sticking out of my ankle why?

Pushin too Hard.: Working out causes an increase in arterial blood pressure. The increase allows more blood to exit the vessels at the arteriole and capillary levels. The increase of fluid in the tissue causes the muscle and tissues to swell and harden. These firmed up tissues push the veins to the skin. The veins appear to be bulging or sticking out.

pain behind the knee. just one knee i dont recall doing anything to sprain a muscle or tear anything. could it be a blood clot? my veins on that side are also sticking out a little more then normal. not constant pain but it hurts if i lean back onit?

: You should not concern, just observe the symptom(s) for now. You can apply ice pack locally as needed for pain if there is significant discomfort. See you doctor if symptoms persist or get worse in the next 24 hours. A blood clot, if it is true, below the knee is not life threatening and same is for pain due to Baker cyst.

i have protruding veins with knots in my left leg below the knee.  it is now coming up back of leg with soreness.  what causes this?

Bad Veins: What you are describing are varicose veins with either areas of enlarged varicosities(look like grapes) or areas of superficial phlebitis(clotted veins),  either way  you should see a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation including a venous reflux ultrasound to make the diagnosis and help to determine the treatment plan.

i have a vein in my left leg that hurts. it is becoming larger and protruding. this vain is on my left leg above my knee on the outside of my leg. is there a major artery there?

Vein: I think this is a vein that is becoming larger.  The arteries in this part of the leg mostly run behind your knee.  Sometimes the valves in the veins become leaky and the blood will pool in the veins and cause them to swell as they fill with blood.  Seek medical attention if they remain painful or get larger.

i've had a protruding artery inside my left leg above the knee for several mths/yrs but now varicose veins too lower down. i keep very fit. any ideas?

Artery?: I am guess that you probably have a protruding vein.  If it has a pulse and protrudes, you definitely want to see a vascular surgeon.  On the other hand, it it is a vein (as I am guessing) then it is likely connected to your other varicose veins.  A visit to a vein specialist (phlebologist) for a venous ultrasound evaluation can sort out the problem.  From there treatment can be recommended.

my father is is in his late 50s and isn't very healthy he has near his knee veins protruding out they look very  swollen?

Multiple options.: Varicose veins are due to leaking (refluxing) valves usually in the saphenous vein system. There is a gold standard of treatment and lesser ways to treat these veins.  The gold standard is to have a venous reflux exam and laser closure of the leaking valves followed by microphlebectomies or sclerothrapy of the vv.  Lesser treatments would be support hose and observation.  See a vein specialist.
