why does ovarian cancer cause painful burning urination?

: In the several patients I've seen with ovarian cancer this has not been a featured symptom or presenting symptom. A lower urinary tract infection or urethral irritation/inflammation are the usual causes of burning on urination. Pelvic discomfort and abdominal distension are common symptoms of ovarian cancer though.

i know that ovarian cancer can cause frequent urination but can it cause burning also? would the symptoms come and go?

: The more likely reason for urinary frequency and burning is a urinary tract infection, a bladder infection. You can get treated with antibiotics for a urinary tract infection by calling your doctor. Your gynecologist can evaluate your ovaries by an imaging study like a CT scan as well as physical exam. You can thus be checked for signs of ovarian cancer. Good luck to you!

a friend is so sure she has ovarian cancer but never even was tested, she is 59 and now said she feels slight pain in her bladder area, zero other symptoms, no burning or blood, just sensation in bladder area, is this a sign of ovarian cancer?

?Bladder infection: Your symptoms are more like those from infection of the urinary bladder(Cystitis). You need to see a doctor to get your urine checked and take an antibiotic for bladder infection. Ovarian cancer is not likely cause of your present symptoms. You should not worry about Cancer at this young age...at least not until your get into your 50s!

Depends: It will depend on the stage. Curative surgery in early stage of disease plus minus chemotherapy. Debulking surgery is needed and is done by a gynecology-oncologist if the tumor burden is high - then followed by chemotherapy. The treatment will depend on the stage.
