Diffrent problems: A urethral tear is helped by the catheter becuause it  seals off the tear, prevents bleeding and keeps down swelling that can obstruct flow. A stricture is scar tissue that has formed after the healing process is complete. Scar tissue formation is a normal part of the healing process. In some pts too much scar tissue forms and obstructs flow.Surgery to clesr out the scar is then necessary.

Sort of.: During cystoscopy, a urethral stricture can be visualized. An incision can be made to open up the scar, a procedure called direct vision internal urethrotomy (dviu). This does not heal or "fix" the scarred tissue, but opens up the channel to relieve blockage. There is always the possibility that the stricture will return and require future treatments. Talk to your urologist about your options.

Call doctor: Anytime you have surgery and have a question about your post surgical course, call your doctor.  I much rather someone " bother" me with a questions that turns out to be nothing than have someone not want to "bother" me and it turn out to be serious.  
You might be bleeding from the surgery or irritation form the catheter...Either way it is better that your surgeon know about this.

Based on evaluation.: Unfortunately, urethral stricture disease can be a difficult problem to manage with recurrences possible despite surgical treatment. Further treatment options would depend on a full re-evaluation of your current stricture, with physical exam and urethrography. The location, length, & degree of stricture will help determine treatment. Non -procedure options include self-catheterization. Good luck.

: Patience. The ureter did not get large in 5 days and it will not shrink down in 5. It is a tissue structure not a rubber balloon.  In 2-3 months it should be on its' way to becoming a more normal size. With the backpressure off the kidney, the procedure has done what it was supposed to do. Please discuss this with the doc who knows all the factors of your case.

: Posterior urethral valve is a congenital malformation leading to urinary outflow obstruction from bladder.  Hydronephrosis is not expected to subside in short period.  I wonder about the status of your  kidneys' filtering function and your growth parameters.
