during an ultrasound, what if fluid is noticed on babies brain?

Depends on variables: There are spaces within the developing brain where fluid is supposed to be.The size & shape of these spaces is sometimes visible depending on the type of study sensitivity of the probe used. If the fluid collection is excessive, the feature will be monitored. Many will require treatment after delivery and some before. Each case is managed based on individual features.

are transcranial doppler (tcd) and brain ultrasound the same? if not how are they different and which is better for what?

Yes and no: "Brain ultrasound" is a nonspecific term, like "automobile." TCD is a specific term, like "Toyota Camry." "Ultrasound" by itself refers only to imaging technology. It doesn't tell you anything about how you're using it or what you're looking AT.

28 week ultrasound showed asymmetric brain ventricles on fetus.. within normal range (7-8mm) 
everything else ok. should i be worried?

F/u echo: required to make sure the inequality in the ventricles does not get worse

at 20 wk ultrasound, if they push hard on stomach to get view of the brain does it hurt the baby? stomach hurt during, but not afterwards.

Should be fine: Remember that the baby is in a big fluid filled bubble and that absorbs the forces you are experiencing.  Baby's brain will be fine. :-)

at sons year od checkup dr ordered an ultrasound of his brain for monday said his head size is in 95th percentile he appears very healthy was surprised to find out he's 18 lbs only because he loves to eat very active fun baby

Hello. : Hello. Doctor's check  babies head sizes (head circumference) and compare it on a chart to other children of that age. 95th percentile means that his head is larger than the "average" head size at that age.  I am glad that you have a healthy and active baby. Take care.

i had an ultrasound last week at almost 9 weeks. everything was good except they said they observed a 3 mm anechoic region on the babys brain. they dont know what it is so i am seeing a specialist next week. what could this be a cyst that goes away?

Post delivery: After delivery, please discuss a head ultrasound with your Pediatrician. Sometimes the prenatal scan is inaccurate. ain the meantime, take good care.

our baby is at 36 weeks. the recent ultrasound showed growth from 35% to 37%. there may also be increased blood flow to the brain.  should we worry?

Ok: An average baby will be measured at 50% in growth. Your baby's size is a little below average, but entirely normal. Interestingly, these measurements have nothing to do with the adult size/heighth of your child. I've never seen a report of increased blood flow to the brain, so i'm not sure of the significance of that...Probably good if anything.

my friend's midwife told her at a ultrasound at 22w that the fetus' ventricles in it's brain are 'too big'. what does this mean? she has a follow up u

Not sure: I would get the exam looked at by a physician.  If you can get the images, find a radiologist or mfm doc to review them.

Not much: If that is the only abnormality not much, ventricles can be slightly different in size and be normal.

therere are choroid plexus cysts on my baby's ultrasound. does that mean holes in the brain? what else?

Accepted Answer

Usually benign.: The choroid plexus is a normal structure in the fetal brain, that makes the cerebrospinal fluid.  Cysts can appear and disappear within the choroid and it usually is normal, but if there are a lot of cysts then testing for down's or similar syndromes may be a good idea.
