Are transcranial doppler (tcd) and brain ultrasound the same? if not how are they different and which is better for what?

Yes and no: "Brain ultrasound" is a nonspecific term, like "automobile." TCD is a specific term, like "Toyota Camry." "Ultrasound" by itself refers only to imaging technology. It doesn't tell you anything about how you're using it or what you're looking AT.
