Lasers and scars: It is possible to treat some minor scars with laser, and some of us in Dermatology have chosen otherr methods such as partial laser ablation. But the first thing, discuss treatment with your dermatologist and get his or her opinion  in case there is a treatment available.

Possibly: Best to consult a plastic surgeon to determine the most appropriate treatment for your scar. My scar treatments are typically multimodality treatments. I will typically use injectable steroid, surgical excision, laser treatment and silicone based scar creams.

Hypertophic Scar: Yes you can treat hypertrophic scars.  There are a number of options.  Consult a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to address your individual needs.  They may range from scar revision, to scar massage, pressure dressings, steroid injections, and/or silicone sheeting.

Wear sunscreen.: If you don't get the scar sunburned in the next 9 months or so, it should fade on its own. Scars revise their form and shape over the first 9 months. It is crucial to wear sun protection (hats or sunscreen, applied hourly) to avoid sunburning it, which may make it dark or red permanently.  (But it can be revised later if you don't like the scar's appearance by a plastic surgeon).

Probably not: Could a circumcision scar be hypertrophic? I have never seen or heard of this happening but in medicine we frequently say that anything is possible. I would add that it is highly improbable though and I have asked collegues and none of them have ever heard of or seen it either. I probably doesn't happen.

How?: Treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids includes occlusive dressings, compression therapy, steroid injections, cryosurgery, excision, radiation therapy, laser therapy, retinoic acid, imiquimod 5% cream, tamoxifen, tacrolimus, botulinum toxin, and over-the-counter treatments. In other words, many treatments are out there, consult with a dermatologist for what is best for your situation.

It is  possible: Discuss with your doctor, the massage technique is some times painful and prolonged. The dermatologist , may try injected the scar with steroids as a more efficient technique. Discuss with your doctor there are some options.

No: Warts grow in the epidermis, a suspected wart in a scar is usually either a hypertrophic scar or a keloid if concerned or it is changing see a dermatologist or a wound specialist.
