Wear sunscreen.: If you don't get the scar sunburned in the next 9 months or so, it should fade on its own. Scars revise their form and shape over the first 9 months. It is crucial to wear sun protection (hats or sunscreen, applied hourly) to avoid sunburning it, which may make it dark or red permanently. (But it can be revised later if you don't like the scar's appearance by a plastic surgeon).
