Appropriate time: Following acl reconstruction surgery, adequate time is necessary for the graft to re-vascularize and regain natural strength. Muscle recovery and joint range of motion return are also necessary before returning to sports. Studies indicate that it takes about 12 months for the graft to fully mature. Some surgeons allow patients to return sooner with protection – bracing. Follow your docs advice.
