Dose dependent: It is usually a few days.  Everybody reacts differently.  Sorry.  If you feel your breathing worsening or heart fluttering you will want to be checked.  Some concern is why were you started on the steroid and is this a reaction or symptom of the problem that was coming.  Just be safe.

Prednisone: Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the facial band on the bottom of your foot.... Prednisone is a steroidal anti- inflammatory.. It is used to bring down the inflammation of the fascia and decrease your pain.

i have addisons disease. they want me on prednisone of hydrocortisone. which one has less negative side effects? thanks

Either should be OK: If the dose is adjusted properly, either hydrocortisone or prednisone can be used for Addison's disease, keeping in mind that prednisone is about 5 times as potent.  Prednisone has the advantage of a longer half life so twice a day works well.  For hydrocortisone, some people need to take it 3 times a day to avoid having symptoms of fatigue for part of the day.

i'm taking 5mg prednisone on and off, i did not know that it has side effects if i stop, 
i'm  not taking it for 5 days now, should i take it again?

Many issues: There are a lot of issues we need to know to answer that question. Why you taking it? Sometimes Prednisone is given intermittently. Sometimes people need to slowly tsper it especially if they been on it a long time. The fact that you have been off it without a problem may mesn you don't need to take it anymore.

Duration and dose: There are, indeed, significant side effects to Prednisone usage.  The most significant problems occur with higher doses and longer duration of usage.  Significant problems with short term usage are rare, but not unheard of.  You must also consider the consequences of not taking the medicine and the potential side effects and relative effectiveness of other medications.

Anxiety: High dose prednisone may accentuate anxiety,restlessness,irritability and sleeplessness due to a stress response. I would expect onset of these side effects by 5 hours but they can last many hours.

Pred side effects: Hi. Prednisone can have psychological effects. How is your breathing? Have you ever been intubated for your asthma? Do you have your asthma meds (glucocorticoid &amp; beta-2 agonist inhalers?). Talk to your doctor. It may be OK to either stop or lower the dose for the rest of the course of prednisone. Don't forget, the outcome is the same whether you kill yourself or die from asthma. Be safe. Good luc

Depends : On the dose / duration, steroids may lead to or exacerbate cataracts, (if it is the case) common, and unpredictable.  Treatment is available, kindly ask for ophthalmologist referral for evaluation, it may not be cataract, may be other unrelated issue to steroids, wish you wellness

1-2 weeks: A lot depends on the dosing of prednsone you were taking. Usually water retention effect going away in 1-2 weeks. 
Some of the other side effects such as stretch marks, hormonal changes  etc may take longer.
