Elevated levels can indicate multiple possibilities: infections, intracranial hemorrhages, multiple sclerosis, guillain barré syndrome, malignancies, some endocrine abnormalities, certain medication use, and a variety of inflammatory conditions. Please ask your doctor about results in your own case.

Spinal tap results: It's very important to interpret the results of a spinal tap or any other test for that matter in the clinical context of the patient. It sounds like the protein level in your CSF is slightly high - but I wonder if there was any blood contaminating the sample that could account for that. If you were having neurological symptoms, then I would hope a diagnosis could be reached to explain everything.

Yes...: Most people have a constant volume of spinal fluid (about 150 ml in adults).  People make enough spinal fluid every day to replace the volume about 4 times.  The "old" fluid is absorbed as "new" is made.  If the relative volume of spinal fluid increases (which would cause an increase in intracranial pressure), then the patient might have a headache.
