i had a tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy 2 weeks ago & 98% of my scabs are off & tonight i noticed little white spots in my throat. could it be strep?

See your surgeon: I doubt it is a strep but it could be post op infection see your surgeon

ive had several red/black spots on my glans that look like tiny scabs for 15 years. sti tests all neg. urologists describe as burst capillaries, harmless, not to worry. is there a name? 2nd opinion? its embarrassing and hard to explain to partners?

: suggest that you inquire if treatment for these small angiomas exists such as laser or electrocautery for your cosmetic concerns with either your original urologist or another doc for a 2nd opinion.

i have black spots on my scalp where my hair has thin and 2 spost on my face as well as on my ear. it's not acne or blemish. they scab up. what is is?

Black skin spots: Without a picture, it is hard to say.  These could be many things, including benign nevus, seborrheic keratosis, or solar lentigos (due to sun exposure), to name a few.  These do not usually scab up unless irritated/scratched.  Basal cell carcinoma (a low grade type of skin cancer) can be pigmented.  If there are irregular borders and coloration with bleeding or bump, this should be seen by MD

are dark grey/ redish blackish spots on one tonsil bed (after a tonsillectomy) a sign of healing or an infection?

Accepted Answer

Healing: Infections in a post op tonsillar bed are pretty rare,  usually i put my patients on antibiotics after the surgery anyway.  The reddish black dots are the residual effects of cauterization and granulation tissue together.  Eventually they will turn back to the normal color of the oral cavity.

7th day after tonsillectomy. the right side of my throat has a significant black spot. it also hurts pretty bad. what is it? should i be concerned?

Tonsillectomy: It is probably a small blood clot. It should resolve. You may see your doctor as well for peace of mind.

Could be: You may be coughing up old blood clots  accumulated after surgery , make appointment with your surgeon for post O P visit.n

Post op tonsil: Greetings. It is common to see some bleeding after a tonsillectomy. The amount of bleeding and frequency needs to be relayed to your surgeon. If you were my patient, with this brief history, I would suggest just observation. The dark scab is just that a scab that is covering a healing  wound. Have it rechecked with your surgeon to be sure. That is my policy, recheck after bleeding in post op pd.

Dried blood?: When you cut something off, there would be bleeding points left behind for days to a couple of weeks.  I would only be concerned if you find pus there.  These will pass.

do tonsil scabs fall off in 1 big piece or flakes off over time? its day 10 after tonsillectomy and i cant tell if they have started to fall off or anything?

: The scab should fall off piece by piece when you are eating or drinking and you will likely not notice.

Healing: After the tonsillectomy the area where the tonsils used to be can turn white and then slowly return to pink. This is the natural course. Scabs are usually dark black/red spots and usually only in a few locations (they dont cover the entire area).
