A member asked:

I have black spots on my scalp where my hair has thin and 2 spost on my face as well as on my ear. it's not acne or blemish. they scab up. what is is?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Black skin spots: Without a picture, it is hard to say. These could be many things, including benign nevus, seborrheic keratosis, or solar lentigos (due to sun exposure), to name a few. These do not usually scab up unless irritated/scratched. Basal cell carcinoma (a low grade type of skin cancer) can be pigmented. If there are irregular borders and coloration with bleeding or bump, this should be seen by MD
