Infection: See your PCP for definiotive quick-strep testing and possible antibiotic therapy. I advise zinc lozenges ( Cold-Eze) and dark brown honey.

what would one or two white spots on your tonsils mean? would it be tonsilitis, thrush, or tonsil stones? they clear up and come back.

Tonsils: Tonsils may develop small white patches that are simply dried surface secretions and have no medical concern. If there is no abnormal asymmetry of tonsils, no redness or pain then infections, such as strep or mono are unlikely. Thrush tends to cause scattered white thin exudate on the palate and cheeks or throat, and less so on the tonsils.

my 3 year old kid have swollen tonsil for more than 2 months. its on left side of the mouth only. and bad breath also. no white spots, tonsilitis?

See a pediatrician: Tonsils may enlarge in response to infection, and may stay large long after the infection clears up. If concerned, I would recommend that you discuss this problem with your pediatrician. Very common.

i have severe ear, throat and tonsil pain only in my left side the ent said everything is normal no infections in ear or throat what could this be?

Referred pain: If ear and throat infection have been ruled out by your ENT specialist, referred pain from the dental apparatus would be first on the list.  TMD, muscle spasm or dental infection have to be ruled out.  Next cervical (neck) pain can be referred to the ear and throat.  Rarely laryngeal pain can be referred to the ear.

Mgt: Most likely this will resolve with a little more time. Warm soothing liquids like soup or tea may help to ease the pain. Monitor your temperature and report fever to your doctor.

Tonsil Pain: Although you should have adequately healed after eight days, it is possible to have residual inflammation, possibly an infection. Why don't you let your oral surgeon take a look.

what causes pain in the sinus area and cause tonsil pain / stones. ?

Unrelated: Sinuses and tonsils are not related pain-wise.  You could have a cold with inflammation of the nasal passages/sinus openings and also causing sore throat/tonsil pain.  Tonsil stones can be present with or without infection, and can be rinsed out with a "water pik" or gargles.  Saline to the nasal passages can help sinus pain.  See a doctor if you aren't getting better.

Depends on situation: If it is sudden, you probably need antibiotics.  That is, if it is bacterial tonsillitis.  If it is a cold, then they are not useful.  If the tonsillitis is recurrent enough or chronic, tonsillectomy can save you many future illnesses.
The tonsils sometimes just have small pits that harbor bacteria like the plaque in your teeth.

i have tonsilitis. since 5 years i have been picking my tonsil stones using toothpicks. what can i do to permanently cure them?

Tonsillitis: You cannot "cure" these.  They form as a natural consequence of tonsillar inflammation.  If you feel you are getting too many episodes of infection, see an ENT doctor about whether they feel your tonsils should be removed (or not).

had a very tiny white spot (only 1) on right tonsil for 3 days, idk if its food or tonsilitis. could it spread? how to tell the difference?

Symptoms: Tonsillitis is usually manifested by sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in neck and fever. 1 exudate (white spot) may or may not indicate tonsillitis. If you are better now it was probably viral and should resolve. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
