Discuss with coach: Each coach has certain routines that you should follow.  I would think that lifting every other day is generally recommended.  Vary the types of lifting though.  Toning is designed to have higher reps, more sets and lower weight.

Many exercises: Push-ups, pull-ups, curls, arm-extensions,  butter-fly, chin-lift, and boxing activities are examples of activities you can do to tone up your arms. Heavier, wt bearing exercises will build larger muscles, lighter wt and more reps will create better definition of your muscles. You should exercise all parts of your body--balance/more proportionate is better. Consult a trainer. Good luck.

8 weeks: You should generally see noticable changes at approximately the eight week mark. The arms may show changes sooner than the abs particularly if you are carrying some fat around your middle. This does not mean that the abs are not getting toned but they may not show as well until the fat is burned off.

Eat less: Food and exercise more. You need to burn off 3500 calories that you don't take in to lose one pound. You can choose where your body will remove the fat from, but it's often the most recently gained that is lost first.

5 lbs is a bit light: And it will take time. Many repetitions frequently will produce results but tone takes time. The more you put in, the faster you will get results.
