Maybe: Tmj is the name of the joint. Tmd is the problem in that joint. Whether the joint itself is involved or just the muscles in that area needs to be determined, have a dentist examine the area.

when i open my mouth wide eg to eat an aple i hear a noise from my jawbones and feel like they are detached others don't hear it slight tmj?

Yes: You are hearing the disc slip off the joint, which is a form of TMJ disorder. You should avoid opening wide and cut your apples up for a few weeks to allow the muscles to relax and the joint to settle in proper position. A TMJ splint should be made for you to help avoid the disc slipping as well.

i think i have tmj for about 3days how many more days does it take to completely free from tmj i also can't open the mouth to its full extent
when will it go please i have a lot of pain?

Depends.: With only 3 days symptoms, you may get complete resolution. Soft diet, massage, moist heat OTC NSAID. If no better in a week, see a TMJ expert. Can become chronic.

Maybe: Only way to know is to try it. But don't give up after only one treatment. And i would also get more than one opinion before jumping into expensive therapies before other options are tried.

Not very accurate: They may make it worse. Think of it as you making your own cast for a broken arm. The accuracy needed to fit properly and the adjustment needed to insure proper bite cannot be achieved unless @ dentist.

i went to a rave and got drugged, and my mouth has been extremely dry ever since. i have tmj and turrets which might be making it worse. help?

Raves: First, and most important, find different friends and other ways to occupy your time. This behavior warrants  discussion with a psychologist. Second, you may have had other drugs. Other medications (for tourettes or tmj)  may cause symptoms. Finally a TMJ diagnosis in an 18 year old is suspect, and "tmj" doesn't cause dry mouth, it's a joint and muscle problem.

TMJ treatment: It is actually very common to have a popping sound as the area surrounding the tempromandibular joint.  It contains a network of ligaments all moving (ideally) in harmony. If the ligaments are stressed, most commonly through bruxism or grinding usually at nighttime when we are asleep.  The most conservative approach is to have a night guard or professionally made applaince to relieve this stress.

i have a nerve in my mouth lower  bottom right  that's off the charts, however, it's doesn't hurt when i have hot or cold drinks. ideas? tmj??

Tooth vx Nerve: Could be a tooth, insensitivity to hot/cold suggests possibility of trigeminal neuralgia. This is shocklike pain with stimulation of area. See TMJ-orofacial pain specialist for diagnosis/treatment. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society

Go to ED: May may be having some complication of TMJ for which you should be evaluated urgently at the emergency room. Pl see attached for some details but don't delay your evaluation. Hope you feel better!

TMJ flare up: Sounds like a disc out of position. If disc can be recaptured healing will be accelerated. You may need occlusal orthotic, anti-inflammatories, alternating heat/cold (moisten wash cloth with warm or cold water), exercises, stress reduction, soft diet, etc. See Dentist w expertise in treating Joint Dysfunction.
