It depends: Tough question. Pain in lower back and tingling in the legs may or may not be related.  You should see your doctor to have it evaluated, especially if this is a new symptom.  If you have any changes in your bowel or bladder function, it is more of an emergency.

See a Doc: The first thing to do is to try to determine what activity brought about these symptoms. You really need to think hard about this. If you can identify what brought it about, then it may be helpful to speak to a personal trainer to see if you are using poor technique or if there is an activity that you are "overdoing". If the symptoms persist, probably best to see your doc or a back specialist.

Pain: You need to determine the source of your pain by seeing your doctor.  This may be pinched nerves, anxiety, or a combo.  Using both MD help and a clinical psychologist who works w/pain management can be an effective way to treat.  Modalities such a biofeedback or clinical hypnosis (www.asch.net) after seeing doc can be very useful.  Peace and good health.

Spine: After a fusion arthritis can occur above and below the fused segments of the spine.  It sounds like your surgery was many years ago.  If you so not have a spine surgeon it would be a good idea to see someone soon to have a look at your back and gets some new x-rays.

Nerve: Tingling is a symptom of a nerve either having pressure on it or possible nerve disease.  If it occurred after cracking your lower spine, it could be from a disk causing pressure on a nerve or stretching a nerve.
