Resect: Solitary nodule, if on scan is shown to be cold, probably represents a thyroid adenoma. Regardless of bx. there is a 40% chance that such a lesion could convert to malignancy. Emergency surgery is not indicated but rather proper work up to make correct decision.

Probably not: Your physician will address the nodule, perhaps by having a needle biopsy performed. If your calcium is more than very slightly above reference range, and you're not just dehydrated, this deserves a lab workup to be sure you're not walking around with hyperparathyroidism which can make you quite sick. The high TSH also needs evaluation. All three are quite treatable.

: First one needs to ascertain if the nodule is a malignant lesson. The determination requires examination of tissue by a pathologist and the same applies to the lymph node.

Trust your MD: If your endocrinologist has checked you and feel there is no change and .3cm is probably insignificant growth.  I would not worry.  If you are request another Ultra Sound guided FNA.

Maybe: Most "inconclusive" thyroid biopsies are fine needle biopsies (fnas). "inconclusive" ones are usually benign but occasionally are not, and this can only be established with a proper surgical excision and full pathology examination.  This is the reason to remove a nodule...Not its size.

Thyroiditis?: Several conditions can cause thyroid nodules with pain.  Thyroid hormone irregularities are the most common.  But there are many others.  You need to have you pcp send you to an internist or endocrinologist for evaluation.

Yes: Solid nodules carry the risk of being thyroid cancer (although certainly most solid thyroid nodules are not cancer). Because of the risk, you should have a biopsy done (most can be done using a very thin needle while an ultrasound is being done).

Not "normal": I'm going to assume that the fine needle aspiration showed either "adenoma" or "nodular goiter". These things do grow. You may ask about surgery, if you wish, just because of the mass effect. Best wishes.

Needle biopsy : Nodules of that size can be biopsied using a technique called fine needle aspiration.  The skin over the nodule is numbed with a local anesthetic. Then, usually with ultrasound guidance, a needle is passed through the skin into the nodule. A small sample is taken and then analyzed under a microscope.
