Endometrium: The endometrium is internal lining of the uterus. It can be measured via sonogram. This is referred to the endometrial stripe. In premenopausal women this will vary depending on where you are in the menstrual cycle. Some causes of a thick endometrium include endometrial polyps and uterine fibroids.

: The endometrium build up in anticipation of fetal implantation everymonth cyclically based on hormone stimulation and there is denudation with debris formation if no pregnancy is why you have the blood flow with removal of the endometrial debris. The ultrasound was done probably just before a period so it is showing that the endometrium the inner linning of the uterus is still thick and may slough

No: You are young and unlikely to have endometrial cancer. Unless you have a hereditary cancer condition, you don't need to worry. The thickness isn't extreme. Talk to your Gyn or set up a consult if you like to discuss this further

US results: The size of the stripe, or the thickness of the endometrium, can be an indicator of endometrial abnormality, although this must be considered along with other signs or symptoms a woman may be experiencing.  This in and of itself does not make pregnancy impossible.

: As an isolated finding this can be checked again after a couple of months to see if it persists. If you are getting irregular or heavy bleeding or if there is a fertility concern, then further evaluation and management might be indicated now.

i just found out i have a complex ovarian cyst 1 cm w/ irregular borders and my period has been shorter and lighter the past 2 months, could it be ovarian cancer? i also had a thickened endometrial stripe 17cm 6 days before period on u/s. i'm 37.

Possible,: but odds are in your favor, that it is not.  Polycystic ovarian syndrome is more likely. Important to followup with your doctor, as planned. 17 Cm is an unlikely measure of the uterine lining,  17 mm is possible.

im 23 years old and just found out i have a 2 cm prominent thickening of the endometrial stripe, i have left pelvic pain  should i be worried?

Millimeters or cms.?: One centimeter equals 10 millimeters and therefore a 2 cm thickening of the endometrium in a non pregnant uterus is a concern. Usually the endometrium is sampled (biopsied) to find out why. Check with your GYN MD for further advice.

an incidental mri of my lower back has shown a thickening of the endometrial stripe in my uterus approximately 1.2 cm. have no symptons at all.

Needs more workup: Assuming you are post menopausal you should get a transvaginal ultrasound to further assess this. You may have abnormal thickening of the endometrium which can be caused by non-cancerous hyperplasia. Polyps and endometrial cancer can less commonly do this so it is important to get further evaluated.

It can be thick : Just from building up too much secretory or proliferative endometrium, but it could be abnormal tissue, often times if the ultrasound was done right before your period and at your age your doc may want to repeat the us the first part of your cycle and if the lining measures less than 1.0cm that is normal, if it measures 1.3 then u need an in office hysteroscopy and bx to sample the tissue.

Bleeding: Sounds about right. Could be dysfunctional uterine bleeding.   Follow up with your gynecologist
