Basically no: Supartz (hyaluronic acid) injections are very safe. Rarely a patient may have an allergic reaction. Most common problem is a local reaction to the Supartz (hyaluronic acid) in the knee that can last 2-3 days.

Same: 'Synvisc' injections are in my experience helpful for early/ mild osteoarthritis . Whether you're insurance covers one or another type of viscosupplementation(Hyalournan) makes little difference as they are all very similar.Best of luck!

Probably, maybe not: There are varying reports. You may want to check with the manufacturer. There are dozens, maybe hundred, of compounds that could potentially raise one person's blood pressure, but don't take something which has questionable advantages to health anyway.

No: The oral form has no value whatsoever.

Likely OK: But not fully clear if either helps substantially.  The Alpha lipoic has been touted as of value with memory loss and even alzheimer's, but hard to assess full benefit.  Not sure that hyaluronic acid orally has even a fraction of the joint benefits of an injection into the knee. Would definitely discuss both with your regular doctor.

taking glucosamine chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, collagen, resveratrol supplements  for back. will taking all these together create liver issues?

Probably OK: Those  meds are herbalistic treatments and are not as effective as medications such as Motrin or naprosyn(advil or aleve (naproxen) over the counter versions.) do you know what is wrong with your back? A good evaluation by a spinal specialist could give you answers and help MAP out a treatment plan.

Not really, but why?: Who knows? They may not even be safe by themselves, as you never really know what's in them to begin with.  Why are you taking them in the first place. What are you attempting to fix, and how are you going to tell if any of them help -- what criteria are you going to use.  They will commonly interact adversely with other supplements and also with prescription meds. Avoid at all costs.

Alpha-lipoic acid: There's good research evidence for using alpha-lipoic acid in peripheral neuropathy http://tinyurl.Com/l4bvz9z , as an antioxidant, and in migraines http://tinyurl.Com/jvo6x9n -- some other uses also.  Hyaluronic acid may help in osteoarthritis and aging skin.  Neither of these supplements should interfere with a drug test, but you should tell the examiners you're using them.
