is it normal for a temporal vein/ artery to swell for days and then disappear? this has happened over the last few months. any thoughts?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor.  If you had headache and fever, it is imperative that you see a doctor at the earliest.

is pulsating temporal vein or artery an issue?

: You can't feel any pulse over a vein. The temporal artery can be easily felt when you place 3 fingers together on the temporal area.

i always notice the day after drinking my right temporal vein bulges. when i touch it i can feel my heart beat. is this a concern? i dont drink often but im wondering if i should stop?

Accepted Answer

: If you feel a pulse you are feeling the artery, not the vein. Drinking increases BP especially during withdrawal the next morning.  Show to your Dr sometime-no hurry.  
More than 2 drinks a day can increase BP all the time in some.

Yes: It can always be "something else, " but what you describe sounds like ta. Use anti-inflammatory agent such as Aspirin or Naproxen or advil (ibuprofen). Then, see your doctor. Good luck.

why do i hear my heartbeat when i lie on the pillow with my ears folded (covering ear canal)? is this because of the temporal arteries/veins near ear?

Sort of: When you lie on your side you may feel the artery pulsations in and around the ear structures but hearing the sound is not so common but it's possible that what you're hearing is the artery touching ear tissue with each beat. If These sensations are very marked, have your blood pressure checked but, more than likely, there's nothing to worry about.

the vein in my temporal region has been twitchin for a month now.. could it be serious?

Likely benign muscle: Likely benign muscle twitching. No need to rush, but if persists, a clinician can evaluate it as well as update your preventive health care. Hope that helps.

Depends: Have a headache? Is it the first time? Visual disturbance ?  Red eye? Nausea? Light sensitivity?  If you answer yes to any of these questions or still have questions see your doctor.

what would happen if nurse injected botox near or through temporal artery? i see she was near or on top and was worried. my vein look inflamed after. i feel normal though?

: Am totally unaware of any documented case of BOTOX being accidentally injected into a temporal artery, and would doubt that any profound consequence would ensue if this occurred.  See no reason to anticipate such issues in the future with trained and experienced individuals using appropriate dosing.

Temporal arteritis: You  describe a swollen "vein" in the temple. Temporal arteritis is an inflammatory condition of uncertain ideology affecting the temporal artery and other large arteries, like the aorta. It is unlikely that you have this condition. However, the best option is to see an MD urgently, as giant cell arteritis can cause occlusion of the ophthalmic artery and blindness.  Treatment is may be needed.

what does "focal prominence of vessels anterior to the left temporal lobe as described, nonspecific" indicate on a head mri? is this bad?

: I'm going to suggest you discuss your concerns with your physician, the one who knows your medical history best and ordered the MRI.
