Benzo: 0.5 mg xanax=15 mg of temazepam. Xanax (alprazolam) is short acting with half life of 6-20 hours, but temazepam is medium acting half life of 10-20 hours.

Not quite: The excessive day time  anxiety might be because  TZ 15mg  doesn't help u enough to sleep. Best will be to increase it to 30mg. In my experience that's the most common used dose for Temazepam  as sleep aide.

Taking more than this may result in deep or prolonged sedation, temporary confusion or delirium, and at higher doses, respiratory depression and death.

: It could be more difficult when tapering below 15 mg but you can do it. You can take either 15 mg q other day or 7.5 mg daily for a 5-7 days then as needed only then.

Each : Medication is different so I would talk to your doctor and try the new medicine to see which one works best for you.  So it will be trial of each.  Adjusting the dose as needed

No: Those are not the ideal meds for insomnia. Consider time release melatonin, and explore sleep hygiene. Also aerobic exercise. Consider that a methylation insufficiency may be adding to the problem. Consider testing for mthfr and comt genes. Cut back on caffeine. Avoid alcohol before bedtime. Ambien, (zolpidem) or even Remeron may keep you asleep longer.

You should not: Temazepam should be use only for short term. If used longer will produce dependence and requires increasing in dose to obtain the desire effects. Going to a 60 mg dose indicates that you are taking it for some time. Go to a psychiatrist to obtain help on decreasing benzodiazepines. General physicians tend to overprescribe benzodiazepines.
