Depends: Depends on the wisdom tooth's position and if its path of withdrawl is blocked.  Basically, any tooth is removed by separating the root from the surrounding bone (socket) and attachment.  This is done by expanding the bone (rocking the tooth), or by using thin instruments, or by using a dental drill.  The tooth might need to be sectioned (cut/split)  to clear any obstructions. Anesthesia is anothe.

: I would not let a 13 year old take out wisdom teeth  it is possible to take out wisdom teeth but may not be wise depending on the problem.

: Not always necessary to remove. Often there is inadequate room in the jaw for the space these teeth would occupy. Best to discuss with your dentist who will examine for space needs, effect of crowding, and discuss your options. This cannot be done accurately without an exam and probably x rays. Good luck

Good question: I am not a dentist, but I remember what my oral surgeon told me when I had my wisdom teeth removed. He said they have a tendency to result in odontogenic infections if left in place. So their extraction is preventative. The infection can spread to the jaw and cause osteomyelitis or enter the bloodstream and cause systemic illness.

Second opinion: If you are having significant pain and need extractions, you should be able to find a dentist who can treat you in a reasonable amount of time, no 2 months.

Combination: Most oral ; maxillofacial surgeons will use a combination of  intravenous versed, a narcotic like fentanyl, propofol, and ketamine.  There are many other drug combination that also work very well and are safe.

Consult: Generally the surgeon will want a consult to meet you and evaluate the position of the wisdom teeth and discuss with you what is all involved with the removal of the teeth.

NO: You can put it back in a few days after surgery.
It will take longer to close, unless you just had the piercing recently and it is not full y healed.
