Is it necessary to take out the wisdom teeth?

Not always necessary to remove. Often there is inadequate room in the jaw for the space these teeth would occupy. Best to discuss with your dentist who will examine for space needs, effect of crowding, and discuss your options. This cannot be done accurately without an exam and probably x rays. Good luck

Over eons of time our jaws are getting smaller, but not the size of or teeth. As a result wisdom teeth are often partially or fully impacted, or dramatically malpositioned, resulting in a 1 in 7 chance of damage to surrounding teeth/bone/gums. Ask your General Den test to evaluate. If problematic you will probably be referred to a specialist Oral Surgeon for further evaluation and appropriate Rx.
