i am 16. i have had a swollen left ankle for 5ys. it comes and goes but i have noticed that when i drink water it swells up even more. x ray was clear?

Accepted Answer

Swollen ankle. : Was there ever any trauma to this ankle?  Did you land on it wrong after a jump when you were a kid, for example?  I'd think an X-ray would not suffice to diagnose this properly. An MRI may be useful for imaging pathology in the ankle.

i was drinking wine, eating popcorn, and eating jalapeos, and suddenly my left bottom lip got swollen. am i allergic to something?

Accepted Answer

See your dentist: if it was due to a sore. See your physician if it is an allergic reaction. Go to ER if the swelling is spreading to your tongue and airway.

my right ankle is swollen but not my left. pain in my right inside knee and upper groin area. what could it be? i exercise daily, dont smoke nor drink?

Accepted Answer

: The exercising could have caused a strain in that area. The muscles and joints in area could be inflammatory from trauma of exercising or a fall. You can try hot compresses but if this condition continues see a orthopedist for x-rays or an MRI.

ive had a charley horse in my left calf for 8 days.  been eating bananas, drinking water, & gatorade w no relief. i can barely walk today & swollen.

Try quinine: Cocktail quinine water can be helpful for this.  Try several glasses of this which you can buy at any grocery store.  If that fails, and the pain is persistent, then you need to find a vascular surgeon for evaluation and treatment.

left foot is always mildly swollen but swells up a lot when drinking beer. what could be the cause? liver and kidney blood tests were fine.

Dilation of veins: Most likely you are fine and the swelling is just due to dilation of the veins in the leg and is caused by alcohol. But if its painful, you drink more than 5 drinks/day, you have protein in your urine (your doc may have checked a urinalysis) or you have  had any injuries to your left leg then you may need to be seen and have someone look a little deeper.

for a few weeks now under my eyes are always swollen, especially the left eye, no matter how good i sleep it doesnt go away. i drink sufficient amount of water between 3 to 5 liters of water, workout at the gym, eat healthy with low amount of salt?

: Swollen eyelids (I think that's what you're referring to) can be the sign of many different things. It could be as simple as the side of your body your sleeping on to inflammation (allergies) to too little sleep to cancers (unlikely) to thyroid disease. If it doesn't improve, see an ophthalmologist

why have i got severe ear pain in my left ear & swollen glands in my neck on the same side? i smoke a pipe and drink in excess. i am a 53yr old man.

Possibly cancer: I don't want to worry you, and i'm a cancer doctor, so i always think about cancer. But this is something you must have checked, and the sooner the better! tobacco users are at risk for head and neck cancers, which can cause ear pain and swollen lymph nodes on the same side. It's also possible you have a viral infection. With cancer, the lymph nodes are often painless and hard.  Get seen soon!

i opened a fizzy side can (7up) and i noticed the can was swollen i didn't drink it and threw it away should i be worried about botulism?

Accepted Answer

: There are 2 reasons you shouldn't be worried: 1) you didn't drink it and 2) botulism usually comes from eating improperly home-preserved foods like soups, sauces, meat etc., where the heat is insufficient to kill any Clostridium botulinum bacteria that may have gotten into the food. Carbonated beverages are, to say the least, different.

i have a drink once every week usually quite a few and now it's feels like my liver is swollen laying on my side is uncomfy and i can feel fullness ?

I think: you are CONCERNED about how much you are drinking! Are you describing BINGE drinking?? How many are "quite a few"?????  However the liver is usually not enlarged by binge drinking (It can develop "fatty changes" but these are reversible if you do not drink in between bijnges. BINGES are unhealthy for a LOT of reasons!
