how do i tailor this program to my chronic illness (multifocal motor neuropathy). some weeks i will be able to do more exercise (swimming) but every 4th week is ivig treatment so i can't exercise that week.

Are you sure?: I am not aware of any precaution on exercise after IVIG and I have prescribed this treatment often enough.  Do check with your doctor to confirm the need for this precaution.

Medication: There are medications and supplements that help with the pain and burning. Suggest you talk to your doctor about what is right for you.

SCS possibility: If it is pain with numbness you might be a candidate for a spinal cord stimulation system (scs).

Neuropathy: For neuropathic pain, various specialty blocks sometimes give pain relief for months. But, it often doesn't help overall neuropathy numbness etc.

Neuropathy: Neuropathy is related to the nerves, so until the nerve supply affects the blood supply, etc., the foot can look outwardly normal. Generally, people with neuropathy can have other related problems. A diabetic can have poor blood supply, neuropathy, high risk of infection and poor wound healing, leading to  "disgusting" feet.

Medications: They are various topical and oral medications and vitamins. Howver, you need to find the cause of the neuropathy so it can be properly addressed. See a physician.

Generally good: Most folks with small fiber neuropathy don't experience a lot of change in their symptoms over time, and it seldom progresses to involve other nerve fibers.

: Yes, if you have severe peripheral neuropathy then you can't use your feet appropriately so accident will for sure occur, e.g. you can't feel how deep or how strong you exert on the brake or accelerating pedal when you need to stop or accelerate. Take care.

Aggressive approach: An electrical stimulator seems to me to be a rather severe remedy for a condition which can usually be well controlled with simple interventions.  Are you taking Methadone for "nerve pain"?  Did your doctor explain cause for your neuropathy?  Have you tried Lyrica or Gralise, or Effexor or Savella (milnacipran)?  Have you had immune testing?  Do you possess a small fibre problem?

could intense stress and anxiety cause prehipheral neuropathy in the feet and vagus nerve damage? if so, what can i do to repair my vagus nerve along with the nerves in my feet?

Accepted Answer

: No, your emotional struggles do not cause peripheral neuropathy and do NOT damage the vagus nerve or other cranial nerves.  However, stress and anxiety do affect autonomic function secondary to shifting levels of neurotransmitters.  See a neurologist to uncover the cause of your foot problems.  Handle the emotions with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, plus biofeedback and meditation.
