Neither or Both: Swelling around a mole could be a sign of melanoma, but certainly not a reliable one.  It would not use it as a solitary feature to decide whether or not to be worried about a mole.

hi i accidentally cut a mole  on my vaginal area whilst shaving, the mole had bleed slightly, but now i have swelling around that area which is soar to the touch,  can u help  explain what this could mean??

Minor trauma: You can use a small amount of antibiotic ointment and a band aid if you want but this should heal quickly.

Not likely.: Melanoma has 4 main types of lesions: superficial spreading, lentigo maligna, acral lentiginous, and nodular.  These lesions are pigmented with many colors, are asymmetric, have irregular surface or border(s), and vary in color.  Swelling is not really part, although it may be irregular.  Swelling might be from an insect bite or cut close by.  See a dermatologist for exam of the mole to be sure.

Several diagnoses: A knot on top of the foot can be anything from a soft tissue mass to a simple ganglion cyst to an abscess. If there is pain involved you need to be evaluated by a foot specialist and xrays and possibly an MRI is needed. The 'mole' may be incidental but in very rare cases, a malignant skin lesion may be the cause. Go see the doctor!

i ripped a mole off it was brown under but scabbed up the pharmacist prescribed me an ointment snd it seemed to help the swelling and redness go now its just a scar. if this was cancer woukd it be doing so well?

24 hours ago i notice my ring finger had darker brown discoloration. it runs from knuckle to knuckle and irregular in the sides. it is only on the top of my hand and does not wrap around to my palm. i have no moles in that area, no pain, no swelling.

Brown discoloration : Do you have any other discolorations? Do you have any history of hormone imbalances, endocrine issues, Addisons, dermatomyositis? Are you a smoker? What is your diet like? Consult with us to determine if you need further evaluation.

Which location it is: Who said it could be a lymphnode. If already a docotor saw and felt it is harmless no need to do anything. As  some of the conditions in scalp can cause small lymphnodes to appear prominently such  as dandruff, small cuts, infected acne, pustules, can cause them . But lymphnodes in the back of scalp close to the nape of neck called  occipital nodes are significant in some conditions-syphilis, hiv.

Inflammation.: Swelling of the skin around the head of the penis could be a sign of inflammation or even a penile skin infection known as balanitis. I recommend carefully cleaning the foreskin with soapy water, keeping it dry, and having your primary care provider or urologist look at it as soon as you can.

Scalp Bite: Depending on what the bite is from, how long it's been there, and the extent of the "swelling", you may wish to have it evaluated. An "abscess" can fill with puss and may not cause a fever, but still needs to be drained. The age of your son may make some difference with respect to urgency as well.
