I : I am so sorry that this patient has had to go through all of this.  I am assuming that the patient is under the care of an excellent vascular surgeon.  The patient should be on optimal medical management including blood thinners if the vascular surgeon thinks is appropriate.  The patient should have optimal wound care by a wound care specialist if any wounds are present.  Obviously the patient should absolutely not be smoking and should have optimal nutritional management.

Possibley due to low: Removal of blood clot would not on its own cause prolonged unconsciousness.Complictions related to low o2 caused by the clot could.There are many other causes which i'm sure your doctors will look for.

Hard to say: Your girlfriend should see the surgeon for an emergency visit to sort out why all of a sudden the vision changed.  There may have been bleeding in the eye, retinal detachment, etc.  Only a proper evaluation can sort this out propperly.

Probably no: There are several causes of headaches. It is unlikely that they haedaches you are currently experiencing is as a result of the surgery you had to remove a blood clot 30 years ago. I will recommend that you see a neurologist, who will perform a detailed neurological examination and probably order several tests and imaging studies of the brain, to help better understand the cause of your headaches.

: A subdural hematoma describes bleeding underneath the dura mater covering the brain.  Bilateral describes such a process on both sides.  Most often this is due to head injury but not always, as hematological and deficient clotting issues can promote bleeding, and this can be experienced when taking anticoagulants.  If there is a question of causation, a full evaluation is necessitated.

Accepted Answer

Depends on size/loca: Depending on the size/location of the clot, removal may be needed or impossible--sudden, large clots in lung causing significant low oxygen may need urgent surgery to remove it. Small ones in the brain (i.E small stroke) can't be removed. Otherwise clots in legs/lungs/arms not causing too much trouble, will resolve on their own with appropriate med such as heparin/coumadin. Consult doc. Good luck.

Yes: Surgery is reserved for large clots that are typically immediately life-threatening. Smaller clots are treated with blood thinners which help prevent the clots from becoming larger and give a chance for them to naturally dissolve.

Brain surgery: She has " cerebral anemia" because she has lost a tremendous blood because of the clots. Her condition is extremely serious.She Is not moving or talking because she has severe brain damage and may not recover
