A member asked:

Can blood clots be removed without major surgery?

Depends on size/loca: Depending on the size/location of the clot, removal may be needed or impossible--sudden, large clots in lung causing significant low oxygen may need urgent surgery to remove it. Small ones in the brain (i.E small stroke) can't be removed. Otherwise clots in legs/lungs/arms not causing too much trouble, will resolve on their own with appropriate med such as heparin/coumadin. Consult doc. Good luck.

Where: What kind of blood clots and where ? We need more information .. If the question is about deep vein thrombosis then yes , a transcatheter therapy is available in acute cases.
