Speech Therapist: The best course of treatment in this case is a good speech therapist; he/she can lead the individual down the road to recovery; which depends upon the severity of the stroke.

Post-stroke: stiffness.  Please consider taking some training in qigong.  See www.nqa.org to find a teacher.  Tai chi may be an alternative but qigong would be better.  Get some massage if you can.  See abmp.com for referrals.  Peace and good health.

my father has stroke on november 2020 so it has been 5 months since recovery. but last 2 weeks, he has shortness of breath on and off everyday. may i know what this is? is it a post-stroke recovery symptom?

: Your father should see a doctor ASAP. Shortness of breath can be due to serious, even life-threatening conditions, including but not limited to congestive heart failure, bronchospasm, pulmonary embolism, deconditioning, etc. A doctor will be able to diagnose and treat the problem. You can go to an ER if he can’t be seen by his doctor right away. Best of luck to both of you!

First clarify the Dx: So if you can because by a variety of medical conditions. It would be wise to see your primary physician and then depending on what the outcome of that evaluation and then a neurologist. The pain physician may not be in the diagnostic room on this

after brain stroke recovery in hospital suddenly ammonia 99, encephalopathy, unconcious,breathing on own, feeding thrgh tube, 3 days now , not conciou?

Encephalopathy: The stroke, may be more extensive than initially seen. Brain swelling which compresses on the brain stem may result in the inability to breath, swallow on his own. Once the other body systems begins to fail such as the lovey and kidneys then you can see poor excretion of metabolic by products as Ammonia build up.

just tested positive for covid for the 1st time. i have mild symptoms and have been triple vaxed. is there a risk of cardiac arrest, stroke or blood clot while recovering or after recovery? i'm having alot of anxiety over this?

: Most of the time, Covid-19 related deadly complications only happen to patients with severe disease who are older than 60 years old with significant underlying medical conditions (comorbidities). You are young with mild symptoms so you should be fine, do not worry much. In 3-5 more days, you will completely recover. Take care!

what does recovery look like in stroke ? i got " cva large mca infarct ,l hemiplegia,  no recovery so far.  after 5 weeks ( stroke happened on 8/25 ) ,  there is high amount of irrelevant talking and restlessness. there is no good sleep in night time?

Delirium: Symptoms suggest delirium that is a poor prognosis sign post stroke. Meds and other conditions such as infections or metabolic are commonly involved. Make sure the patient gets to be examined by his treating neurologist and ask for palliation of symptoms.

my dad had an ischemic stroke on thurs. & was given tpa (alteplase). he has a "minimal" bleed on his brain. does this heal itself, and what is the recovery time?

Yes, it heals: There is always healing as long as we are alive. The extent of healing and the recovery time depends mainly on characteristics of the patient and degree of injury. If your father is young and healthy or stroke is minor, relatively short recovery time. If old and sick or stroke is major, longer recovery. The blood will get slowly absorbed over weeks but this has very little to do with recovery.

: About 10% of people recover completely after a stroke and another 25% recover with a minor impairment. Recovery is different for everyone, it take a long time, sometimes years.
