5 years back colonoscopy showed polyp in hepatic flexure and rectum.this year i have done the colonoscopy again but no polyp in hepatic flexure,why.an?

Colon polyps: Usually when colon polyps are discovered, they are removed at the time of the colonoscopy. Presumably, your gastroenterologist removed those two polyps at the time of the first procedure, and evidently they have not grown back, which is good. If there is confusion, you can ask the previous gastroenterologist to review the first procedure report. Hope that helps.

Wait for histology: It can be anything from a little harmless hyperplasttuc polyp to a deadly cancer that may or may not be curable on resection. Location means basically nothing.

how common is an incomplete colonoscopy due to a tight splenic flexure bend?

Accepted Answer

: If the colonoscopy prep was adequate, ask the GI physician about a repeat attempt, depending on the reason for the colonoscopy, since your age (25)  is early for routine screening.   A repeat may be appropriate if the reasons for the procedure are secondary to a positive fecal blood test or GI  bleeding.

i is it possible to cause splenic flexure syndrome after a colonoscopy?

Not exactly: Splenic flexure syndrome is a term used to describe bloating, muscle spasms of the colon, and upper abdominal discomfort thought to be caused by trapped gas at the splenic (on the left side) flexure in the colon. This has not been reported after colonoscopy, but injury to the spleen has been described following colonoscopy, usually manifest by abdominal pain, low blood pressure and shock in some.

calprotectin >1000. colonoscopy couldnt make it past splenic flexure (bend too tight). everything clear until this point, normal mucosa. is cancer of proximal colon the cause of my calprotectin ? worried its been missed, awaiting repeat colonoscopy?

: Presumably you have symptoms in addition to elevated calprotectin level, otherwise your doctor(s) would have recommended colonoscopy. At your age, inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. Crohn's disease) is far more likely than cancer, which is very rare at your age.

Yes: Clear, liquid "stool" is the ideal end result of the prep for colonoscopy.

No: Hi. No, your bowel prep does not sound even close to adequate for a good study. Tell the gastroenterologist. For all I know, vomiting the bowel prep material may be a manifestation of your GI problem (if you have a GI problem). You'll need to have a clean prep for a worthwhile colonoscopy.

Mucus w/ colonoscopy: Do not worry likely just from the membranes just like we have secretions in our mouth. You can ask the doctor at the colonoscopy

Yes: Small amt of blood will not cause problems with colonoscopy. Continue the bowel prep and have the colonoscopy to diagnose the problem.

Low Chance ; BUT: At 40, a colonoscopy which shows no cancer less than 2 years ago is reassuring. Regardless, ASK your doctors advice about these new symptoms. Anorectal diseases such as hemorrhoids and  fissures can cause changes to bowel caliber, but a thorough evaluation of the area needs to be done. While colon cancers are uncommon to grow in such a short span, it is not impossible. In short, see your doctor!!
