Because of: Anatomical location, early diagnosis is difficult.  Also, it spreads early and usually is quite aggressive.  That is why it results in  a poor prognosis.

Do not worry: It is very rare for a 19 year-old to have pancreatic cancer and if an MRI did not show it, there is no reason to worry about it.

Isolated: Look up courses in local community college or county  extended education courses ,  .Also consider most hospitals have senior courses and many areas have senior centers where you can meet new people and engage with  others.  Check AARP local chapter. Continue  counseling.

Multiple reasons: Pancreatic  cancer symptoms show up late due to the organ being deep in the abdomen and the tumor is highly aggressive and responds poorly to all forms of therapy.

Don't Know: 85% of cancers are sporadic. When it happens in young patients (<50 yrs) we need to consider hereditary syndromes (ei: brca1 mutation) and familial syndromes. Most likely we won't know why it happened. What's important now is treatment. Speak to the oncologist who will help set a plan of treatment.
