51/w/female. a blood and puss filled sore inside belly button. drains it and doctors daily. been there 2 months. same size just will not heal. dime size.help?

Needs further eval: A very unusual place to develop a wound...Any prior abdominal surgery?..Any history of crohn's disease or ulceratvie colitis?...I would see a dermatologist or a genetral surgeon and be prepared this may need a biopsy and cultures to figure out what is causing it and make a treatment plan to get it healed.

Consider these...: Belly-button (umbilical) pain may originate locally due to infection or herniation, or be "referred" from another abdominal location like the appendix. Signs/symptoms of concern include: local redness &amp; drainage, umbilical bulging that can't be reduced with gentle pressure, fever, vomiting, change in bowels, generalized abdominal tenderness (suggests peritonitis), worsening pain. Get checked pls.

Bad belly button?: Black and sore? Not sure what you are referring to, is it dirty, filled with lint or infected?  First step would be to get in the shower and give it a good scrub and see what happens. IS there a hernia?

Lots possible here: In what position do you feel better/ worse? What is the quality of pain--sharp, stabbing, pressure, bloating, gassiness?  Where in your lower abdomen (right, mid, left) do you experience discomfort?  Duration pain lasts?  Is pain deep or superficial?  Have you seen blood with stool or change in bowels? Any chance of pregnancy (sexually active)? Bladder or UTI symptoms? Constipated? Local trauma?

Diverticulitis: It is possible you have diverticulitis which can be a nasty problem if the area ruptures. Its inflamed that's the pain and pain with pressure. Don't eat go to the ER they can do simple tests and if it is start you on antibiotic but go now.

Wet dressings.: You can try wet dressings, using water with a bit of salt dissolved in it, 2-3 times per day. But if the discharge increases and/or it becomes painful, you really should see a doctor because you may be developing an infection.

Sore navel: May be a little abscess ( do you have a ring? )  or a cyst as they tend to recur unless the wall is removed, . Consider dabbing some alcohol on it. and follow up with doc urgent care this week ,  especially if sore as may need antibiotics. Also check for umbilical hernia whihc may need treatment

Umbilicus: Infection/inflammation of the umbilicus can be chronic or recurrent and at times solid material collects and must be cleaned out thoroughly. Daily cleansing is important. If there is constant signs of inflammation, consult a surgeon or dermatologist for evaluation and treatment suggestions which may involve taking a culture and sensitivity test of the drainage followed by a course of antibiotics.

Small intestinal colic.: This type of symptom can be related to viral infection, emotional stress, or something you've eaten. I don't suggest you do anything unless it gets significantly worse.

Umbilical discomfort: Your umbilicus (belly button) can be sore for numerous reasons, but the most common are: 1. You are washing it either too much, or 2. You are washing to too little. If, however, you are pregnant, then it is common for pressure to build up and push out the umbilicus, which can also cause discomfort. Lastly, my may have an umbilical hernia.
