Umbilicus: Infection/inflammation of the umbilicus can be chronic or recurrent and at times solid material collects and must be cleaned out thoroughly. Daily cleansing is important. If there is constant signs of inflammation, consult a surgeon or dermatologist for evaluation and treatment suggestions which may involve taking a culture and sensitivity test of the drainage followed by a course of antibiotics.
