Consider these...: Belly-button (umbilical) pain may originate locally due to infection or herniation, or be "referred" from another abdominal location like the appendix. Signs/symptoms of concern include: local redness & drainage, umbilical bulging that can't be reduced with gentle pressure, fever, vomiting, change in bowels, generalized abdominal tenderness (suggests peritonitis), worsening pain. Get checked pls.

Causes: Inflammation or presence of a hernia(umbilical hernia) are two possible causes of discomfort there. If there are associated redness and discharge infection is likely. A small lump is characteristic of a hernia. See your physician for diagno is and treatment as you shouldn't delay if the hernia is stuck(incarcerated) or if there is active inflammation/infection present.
