Possible TMJD / TMD: To be sure you need an otolaryngologist (ent physician) examine you.  If they rule out ear infection, growths in throat, then you need to consider tmjd. Temporomandibular dysfuction commonly causes ear pain due to proximity of jaw joint to ear.  Also due to continual tension, the styloid process gets elongated giving discomfort from swallowing.  A ct scan of the jaw area would show this readily.Tm.

See ENT: The nerves that go to the throat also send branches to the ear.  Therefore things in the throat can manifest also with ear symptoms.  It may as simple as a small ulcer on the throat or vocal cord but throat cancers can have ear pain as the only symptom.  You need to have this checked within the next two weeks.

?strep throat: You need to be evaluated, if your throat is so sore you can't swallow.  Streptococcus can cause a skin rash, as well, but a quick look and  throat swab can make or clear the diagnosis.  Get yourself to a prompt care or urgent care center.  Good luck.

Throat problems: If this has been ongoing more than 2 weeks and interferes with ability to swallow, the best advise is to get recommendation or referral to see an ENT--Ears, Nose, Throat specialist, also called Otolaryngologist. The specialist can do examination in the office or clinic.

May be reflux: Globus sensation or the feeling that something is stuck in your throat can be due to swelling in the area at the beginning of your esophagus. The most likely cause is reflux but there are other causes. It is important to get evaluated to ensure that you are not missing anything dangerous (mass in the throat).

Get it checked out: My concern is that the sensation is lasting.  This could be a number of things from esophageal spasms to a blockage.  This needs to be investigated.  See your doctor!

: Although it's possible for a pill or capsule to lodge in the esophagus, another possibility is an abrasion on the inner lining of the esophagus; that could create the sensation that the pill or capsule is hung up.  It would be appropriate to urgently see an otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat specialist) to enable the Dr to use a small flexible "scope" to visualize the area.

Probable Virus: More than likely you have a viral sore throat.  It could have associated fever, a white covering on the tonsils and back of the throat, swollen lymph glands in the neck, under the jaw and you could even have a rash.  Strep throat could do the same.  If you have not ingested anything to cut or abrade the throat or back of throat, then viral would come to mind, though others could cause this.
