See a neurologist.: Shocking as it may seem, nearly three-fourths of the pts who present to an ENT office with diagnosis of "sinus" turn out to really have a headache; might be a bad headache, even a migraine, but "sinusitis" is way over diagnosed, leading to too many courses of unnecessary antibiotics.  There may be many reasons for headaches (which by definition means an ache or pain somewhere in the head).

Sinusitis: Often, antibiotics are unnecessary in managing sinus infection.  Treatment should be accompanied by nasal irrigation with saline (neti-pot), decongestants (pseudoephedrine or oxymetozaline nasal spray), possibly nasal steroids and pain control with nsaids. If these measures do not help, see an ENT doctor.  Good luck.

plugged ears &slight pain down neck below ears, nose hurts, back of neck pain, post-nasal drip, swollen feeling under chin, fatigue all sinus related?

Sinusitis : Sinusitis or inflammation of the sinuses can cause all the symptoms that you describe. Due to blockage of the sinus passage ways infection can develop. It is important to visit with an ears nose and throat physician or otolaryngologist to evaluate your symptoms.

is it normal to have two nose bleeds while being treated for a sinus infection??

Accepted Answer

Sometimes: Acute bacterial sinus infection can sometimes present with blood tinged mucous. If the bleeding persist then evaluation by a Physician would be appropriate and there can be many other causes of a bloody nose.

can floaters be caused by a sinus problem above the eyes or near the nose where eye sockets connect? i've had pain in that corner for two years now.

Unlikely: Floaters are generally caused by small opacities in the vitreous gel contained within the eye (like a holiday snow toy). They are often a part of aging or can represent early signs of a retinal tear. Sinus problems usually are noted below or above the eye where the frontal and maxillary sinuses are located. Inflammation here can cause aching.

had sinus surgery 6 wks ago. two weeks post op felt great but last month trouble breathing left side and nose tender. how long can symptoms persist?

See doctor: You should have mostly recovered from the surgery by now.  Contact surgeon to make sure that you are not having complications.

Perhaps: since the nose has not fully healed yet but If the problem persists beyond 6 weeks or gets much worse then it may be abnormal.

Mask: Does the mask have an internal metal nose bridge? Is the mask overly tight?  Do all symptoms dissipated once mask is removed?  There are a number of different mask designs. Would suggest trying different style to see if that alleviates pressure. I have been experimenting with making different variations on mask designs &amp; it can make a big difference.

after having two colds a green mucus in the nose has lingered for the past month. could it be a sinus infection? does it require treatment?

Highly likely: Just because mucus is colored, doesn't always mean it is bacterial. With exposure to air, secretions in the nose can turn colors.  If facial pain, upper teeth pain and fever, then i would diagnose as a bacterial sinus infection and if 1 month of symptoms,  antibiotic is indicated.  I hope this helps. Antibiotic overuse is a huge problem..Please educate others.

i had sinus last night and took two allergex. 
would an antihistamine work better?

Probably not: Allergex is an antihistamine . It is chlorpheniramine. If it was an allergic reaction, it should have helped.. If it helped , but only slightly then maybe taking a longer acting antihistamine  like (cetirizine  or fexofenadine) might help. You should also consider other causes for the swelling is the antihistamines are not helping.
